Anny X harness size guide & size chart

How to choose the best Anny X harness size for your dog

Finding the right size Anny X harness can feel a little confusing at first, so we’ve created this Anny X size guide to help you choose the best fit for your dog step by step.

One important thing to know: Anny X sizing works differently from many other dog harness brands. If your dog normally wears a size M elsewhere, that doesn’t automatically mean an Anny X harness in size M will fit correctly too. The chest measurement is always the most important measurement, so we strongly recommend measuring your dog carefully before ordering.

Still unsure about the size? Feel free to contact us at contact@4kyon.com. If you include a clear side-on photo of your dog standing naturally, we can usually help you with personalised sizing advice and recommend the most suitable size.

How to measure your dog for the Anny X size chart

To choose the right Anny X harness size, measure your dog’s chest around the widest part of the ribcage. Do not measure directly behind the front legs, but approximately 2 to 3 finger widths behind the armpits. See the orange line (1) in the image.

Measure snugly around the chest without pulling the tape too tight, but also not too loosely. There is no need to keep extra fingers between the tape measure and your dog while measuring.

Use this chest measurement to find the correct size in the Anny X size chart below. Is your dog between two sizes? In that case, the weight can be used as an additional guideline. However, the chest measurement will always be the most important starting point.

Tip: don’t have a tape measure at home? Use a piece of string and measure it afterwards with a ruler or steel tape measure.

Weight of dog in the Anny X size chart

The weights shown in this size chart are only intended as a general guideline and do not reflect the strength of the harness. Anny X harnesses are lightweight yet exceptionally strong, designed to handle powerful pulling without restricting your dog’s natural movement.

Anny X harness sizes explained

We always recommend measuring your dog carefully before ordering to avoid disappointment or unnecessary return costs. This size overview gives you a helpful first impression of the different Anny X harness sizes.

AnnyX harness size XXS

Anny X size XXS is usually suitable for very small dogs. Think of Chihuahuas, Maltipoos, Miniature Dachshund, puppies of small breeds, and dogs with a narrow chest between 36 and 42 cm.

AnnyX harness size XS

Anny X size XS is often suitable for small dog breeds such as Jack Russell, Dachshunds, Mini Labradoodle and other small dogs with a chest measurement between 43 and 52 cm. Puppies of larger dogbreeds like Border Collie or Labrador will benefit from this size as well.

AnnyX harness size S

Anny X size S is often a good fit for small to compact medium-sized dogs, such as Beagle, small Podenco, Cocker Spaniel, French Bulldog (sometimes a size S short-back) and Border Collie. Other sturdily built small dogs with a chest size from 52 to 64 cm may also fit size S.

AnnyX harness size M

Anny X size M is generally designed for medium-sized dogs or compact dogs with a broader chest. Most medium-sized breeds with a chest size between 62 and 74 cm may fit this size. An M suits most Viszla's, Australian Shepherds, small Labrador Retrievers, German Pointers and large Podenco's.

AnnyX harness size L

Anny X size L is suitable for larger dog breeds with a wider chest measurement between 70 and 86 cm. Think of dogs in the larger medium to large size range: Golden Retriever, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Podenco, Labrador, German Shepherd, Dobermann and Rottweiler.

AnnyX harness size XL

Anny X size XL is designed for large to very large dog breeds with a deep or broad chest between 78 and 105 to 108 cm. Dogbreeds like large Rottweiler, Leonberger, New Foundlander, Great Dane and Irish Wolfhound will fit size XL.

Please note: these are only general examples. Your dog’s chest measurement and their weight are more important when choosing the correct size.

Not sure about the size? We’re happy to help!

Is your dog’s chest measurement between two sizes? In that case, the weight guide in the size chart can help as an extra indication. However, we also recommend looking at your dog’s overall build. Two dogs can weigh the same, but a compact dog with a broader chest may need a different size than a slimmer-built dog.

That’s why we’re always happy to help if you’re unsure.

For personalised sizing advice, contact us the following:

• your dog’s breed
• your dog’s age
• your dog’s weight
• whether your dog is still growing or needs to lose weight
• the chest measurement
• a side-view photo of your dog standing naturally

On working days, you’ll usually receive personal sizing advice within a few hours.

Tips for adjusting an Anny X dog harness correctly

Choosing the right Anny X harness size is important, but adjusting the harness properly is just as essential. Sometimes a harness may seem like the wrong fit, while it simply needs a few small adjustments first.

  • Does the chest strap feel slightly too tight? You can carefully slide the adjustment sliders out from underneath the elastic loops. This gives you a little extra room around the chest. We only recommend doing this if the rest of the harness fits properly and you’re sure you’d like to keep it.
  • Is the chest strap sitting too close behind the front legs? Try loosening the neck straps slightly. This usually helps the chest strap sit a little further back around the ribcage. Make sure the front ring still stays nicely centred on the breastbone.
  • Does the harness lift slightly on top of the back? This is not always a problem. In many cases, loosening the neck straps slightly already improves the fit, as the chest strap will move further back into the correct position. Slightly loosening the chest strap can also help.
  • Do you see loops forming around the chest strap after adjusting? This usually means the harness has not been adjusted correctly yet. The excess webbing should be pulled further through the buckles so the chest strap sits smoothly and evenly around the chest.

Always attach the lead to the rear ring on the back of the harness. We do not recommend attaching the lead to the neck ring or the front chest ring. When used correctly, the Anny X harness distributes pressure comfortably across the chest and can handle strong pulling force without restricting movement. Please note: attaching the lead to a different ring may void the warranty.

Does this Anny X size guide apply to all harness models?

In general, the Anny X size guide applies to almost all Anny X Y-harnesses. Models such as the FUN, PROTECT and OPEN harnesses all share the same fit and sizing system.

There are, however, a few important exceptions and points to keep in mind. For example, if you have a compactly built dog, or a dog who's slightly overweight, an Anny X short back harness may be a better option. See AnnyX size chart for short back model.

What if the Anny X harness doesn’t fit quite right?

Did you accidentally measure incorrectly or does the harness not fit quite right? Don’t worry, it happens sometimes. Anny X harnesses can be exchanged or returned.

Please note: we cannot accept returns without the original tags attached. Harnesses showing signs of use, such as stains, dog hair, greasy marks on the padding, odours or washing marks, cannot be refunded or exchanged either. We therefore recommend checking the fit carefully indoors before using the harness outside.

For full details, please always refer to our returns policy.

Frequently asked questions

My dog already has an Anny X harness, but I can’t remember the size

A white Anny X size label can be found on the left neck strap of the harness, underneath the black adjustment slider.

How does Anny X sizing fit?

Anny X harnesses fit differently from many other brands, so you cannot simply copy the size from another harness. Always measure your dog’s chest first and then use the Anny X size chart to choose the correct size.

Is there a special Anny X puppy harness?

Anny X harnesses are also very suitable for puppies. The smaller sizes are often ideal as puppy harnesses, depending on your puppy’s breed and build. Thanks to the wide adjustability, many puppies can wear their Anny X harness comfortably as they grow.

A well-fitting Y-shaped puppy harness helps protect your puppy’s neck and distributes pressure more evenly if your pup pulls on the lead. Contrary to popular belief, a good harness does not encourage pulling — it simply offers more comfort and safety.

What Anny X size does a Chihuahua need?

Chihuahuas usually wear size XXS and sometimes XS when they are a bigger, depending on their chest measurement and overall build.

What Anny X size should I choose for a Dachshund?

Dachshunds often wear size XS. Because of their long body shape, sometimes an AnnyX with long back is a better fit. Contact us for an harness with long back strap.
